Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek

Starting near Thimphu, the circular route winds through the Dagala mountain range, passing by numerous lakes and high passes. Itinerary

Day 1: Thimphu to Genekha (Start of Trek)

  • Drive from Thimphu to Genekha Village (Approximately 1.5 hours).
  • Begin the trek from Genekha Village.
  • Hike to Gur Village, passing through rhododendron forests and small settlements.
  • Camp overnight at Gur Village.

Day 2: Gur Village to Labatama

  • Trek from Gur Village to Labatama, crossing the Gur La Pass (4,290 meters).
  • Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and alpine landscapes.
  • Camp overnight at Labatama, near the beautiful Labatama Lakes.

Day 3: Exploration Day at Labatama

  • Spend the day exploring the pristine surroundings of Labatama.
  • Optional hikes to nearby peaks or lakes for stunning views and photography opportunities.
  • Relax and enjoy the tranquility of the alpine meadows and lakes.
  • Camp overnight at Labatama.

Day 4: Labatama to Panka

  • Trek from Labatama to Panka, crossing the Dala La Pass (4,360 meters).
  • Descend through yak pastures and rhododendron forests.
  • Camp overnight at Panka, a picturesque camping site.

Day 5: Panka to Talakha (End of Trek)

  • Trek from Panka to Talakha Village, passing through several small settlements.
  • Descend further through forests and meadows.
  • Reach Talakha Village, where the trek ends.
  • Drive back to Thimphu (Approximately 1 hour).
  • Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 6: Thimphu Sightseeing

  • Explore Thimphu’s cultural attractions, including the Tashichho Dzong, National Memorial Chorten, and Folk Heritage Museum.
  • Enjoy shopping for local crafts and souvenirs in Thimphu’s markets.
  • Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 7: Departure

  • Transfer to Paro International Airport for departure.
